Maestro Solti had a special link with this piece of music – he turned the pages for Ditta Pastory, Bartók's wife, when she and her husband gave the premiere performance in January 1938.

Sir Georg Solti and Murray Perahia won a Grammy Award for the CBS Masterworks recording of Bartók's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion.

This programme includes a documentary about the making of the CBS Masterworks gramophone recording of Béla Bartók's ‘Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion’, with Sir Georg Solti and Murray Perahia, and features a full performance of this landmark in contemporary composition. Solti and Perahia are accompanied by acclaimed percussionists Evelyn Glennie and David Corkhill.
