synopsis

WEBB PIERCE GREATEST HITS

"Nobody done it his way like Webb Pierce" - Willie Nelson

No artist has so dominated country music as Webb Pierce. Most Nashville stars credit their musical inspirations to Hank, Lefty, and Webb.
Born in 1926 on a farm in Louisiana, Webb was the first artist to dress in rhinestone suits, and, with gaudy showmanship, built the first guitar-shaped swimming pool and drove silver dollar-studded cars. For eight years he was voted the number one coutry singer and no one but Webb Pierce can claim 69 hit songs in a row.
Shortly before his death, in 1991, Webb personally created, from rare film performances, a compilation of his greatest hits, narrating and providing background on the songs, writers, and their origins. This is a unique centre stage look at Webb Pierce, "The Wondering Boy".

Customer Reviews

British Country Music Association - Admin DigitalClassics
“Great to see rare live performances of hits like ‘In the Jailhouse Now’ and Backstreet Affair’ and countless others by the man whose memory the country industry has neglected for so long”
Country Music and Dance - Admin DigitalClassics
“ As it’s told by Webb it’s accurate but this is not the story of his life, just his music, and there’s plenty of that”
Country Music People - Admin DigitalClassics
“If you want to show how kitsch country music can be this is the gold standard”
